ABOUT
Our Curriculum
At GEMS Wellington Academy – Al Khail, we deliver an enhanced version of the British National Curriculum, providing students with a world-class education that is both academically rigorous and future-focused. Recognised by top universities globally, the National Curriculum of England (NCoE) offers a structured yet flexible framework that supports academic achievement, personal development, and the discovery of individual passions.
From Nursery through to Sixth Form, our curriculum is broad and balanced, combining core subjects with creative, technological, and practical disciplines. In Secondary, students' progress through Key Stage 3 into personalised pathways at Key Stage 4 and Post-16, choosing from a wide range of GCSE, A-level, and BTEC qualifications to suit their strengths and aspirations.
Our curriculum also integrates real-world learning through STEAM education, Global Futures, Projects for Change, and enrichment opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. This ensures every student not only gains outstanding academic results but also develops the skills, mindset, and confidence to succeed in a fast-changing global society.
At WEK, we are committed to nurturing lifelong learners who are curious, compassionate, and equipped to thrive, wherever their journey takes them.
Nursery
Our nursery places the child at the heart of everything we do. With a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach, we create a nurturing environment where children explore, create, and problem-solve. Through play-based experiences, we encourage self-expression, language development, and build strong connections between children, adults, and families.
Foundation Stage
The Foundation Stage provides outstanding early learning through purposeful play, both child-initiated and adult-guided. We foster confidence, creativity, and independence in small classes with stimulating environments. Strong partnerships with parents support each child’s unique development, ensuring they thrive in a safe, healthy, and engaging setting.
Primary
Our Primary Curriculum nurtures curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking, helping students become confident learners. We encourage them to explore their passions, develop a social entrepreneurial mindset, and engage in personalised, real-life learning experiences. Our pathways support students’ progress and achievement, preparing them for future success and lifelong learning with strong home-school partnerships.
Secondary
We provide diverse pathways that encourage excellence and help break achievement barriers. Our outstanding teachers foster independent learning, motivation, and critical thinking skills, preparing students for GCSEs, ASDAN qualifications, and Post-16 education. We embed high-performance thinking strategies, motivating students to take ownership of their success.
Post-16
Our curriculum is designed to provide personalised support, ensuring students succeed and thrive. In Year 12, students begin a life skills programme that boosts academic performance and personal growth. We offer A-Level and BTEC Level 3 qualifications, focusing on holistic development and preparing students for higher education and future careers.
