Our Post-16 Elite Sports Programmes in Football and Swimming offer talented student-athletes the opportunity to combine academic excellence with professional-level training. Delivered in partnership with It’s Just Football (IJF) and Hamilton Aquatics, these programmes are designed for students aged 16–19 who aspire to excel both in sport and in the classroom.
Student-athletes follow a tailored timetable that balances their chosen A-level or BTEC academic pathway with elite performance coaching, strength and conditioning, sports nutrition, therapy, and education. Our students also benefit from unique internship opportunities that provide hands-on experience in the sports industry.
Additional development includes governing body coaching and officiating awards, First Aid training, and participation in local, regional, and national competitions—as well as international tours. With access to world-class facilities and expert coaching, our Elite Sports Programmes prepare students for success in both sport and future careers.
Beyond the Classroom
Our Post-16 students are empowered to lead, grow, and explore through a rich programme of opportunities beyond the classroom. Our Executive Student Leadership Team (ESLT) and Senior Champions develop key leadership skills, while initiatives such as the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Award and UK Sports Leaders Award build resilience, confidence, and teamwork.
Students also engage in enriching local and international trips, from academic excursions to cultural and service-based travel, including expeditions to Nepal and visits to European cities. Our active Model United Nations and debating society further sharpen global awareness, critical thinking, and public speaking skills.
The bespoke Global Futures Curriculum, developed with Singularity University, prepares students for tomorrow’s world, exploring cutting-edge fields like robotics, AI, and biotechnology. At WEK, learning goes far beyond academics, students are challenged to lead with purpose, think globally, and shape their own futures.
Performing Arts
Performing Arts plays a central role in school life, offering every student the chance to shine on stage or behind the scenes.
